Even the most diligent pet owner may run into the unfortunate situation of a lost animal. A microchip
can save the life of a pet and reunite them with their owner. A Microchip is a rice sized data chip that
is imbedded under the skin at the neck or ear. It holds a unique number. When scanned by animal control
or shelters, they will find your pet’s chip ID number. This will enable them to obtain your contact
information so that you can be reunited with your pet. Hundreds of pets have been reunited with their
families because the pet had a microchip. Read more about it in this recent article.

Were you ever curious about certain personality traits demonstrated by your dog? Is your dog’s appearance confusing to you? Does your little dog act like a big dog? The Romeoville Humane Society can help. We are now selling home DNA test Kits to aid in our fundraising efforts. The test is very simple to use as it only requires a swab of the inside of their mouth and it takes about 4-6 weeks to get the results. Is Fido half Labrador and half Chihuahua? Does his face have German Shepherd written all over it? This test will answer your questions! The test results boast a 99.9% accuracy rate. DNA Test Kits can be purchased for $60 (a $135 value) at some of our events.
Romeoville Humane Society would like to work with veterinarians to sponsor low cost vaccine clinics at some of our events. Development of this project is in its infancy, so please continue to check back about this and feel free to let us know if this something you feel the community would be interested in.
As always, your feedback is a valuable tool that will enable us to implement new programs and improve our organization.
